Dear Colleagues,
We greatly look forward to seeing you at our 11th Austrauma Conference in beautiful Sydney. We have a world renowned International faculty from the United States, Israel and New Zealand as well as leaders in Trauma, Critical Care and Emergency Surgery from all around Australia. We are greatly fortunate to welcome back Médecins Sans Frontières, the Nobel Peace Prize winning Humanitarian Aid organisation to our conference.
This year we are privileged to welcome experts in the field of Quality and Safety in Healthcare to present two special plenary sessions, which will open the main conference each day. These sessions will cover a number of topics which are exceedingly important and greatly relevant in this present day and age to the delivery of optimal health care and best outcomes.
We have also brought back the much demanded sessions on Prehospital Care as well as a dedicated Emergency Room session and a Rural and Remote session.
For the first time at Austrauma and due to great demand we have a dedicated Paediatric Forum on the Friday with an impressive faculty of international, interstate and local paediatric specialists from multiple disciplines.
Exciting sessions on Decision Making, Management Controversies and Medical Hard Talk are also featured. The Conference will be filled with many and varied Specialty talks covering Orthopaedic and Emergency Surgery challenges, controversial Neurospinal issues and a comprehensive session of Tips from the Experts entitled "How I Do It."
The Conference will end with a Quiz inviting audience participation with a panel of experts, which will no doubt prove to be entertaining and provocative. Prizes will be given for correct as well as imaginative responses.
Also due to numerous requests, for the first time a special Breakfast Session will be held early on Saturday morning covering Education, Courses and Careers in Trauma, Critical Care and Emergency Surgery run by the experts in these fields.
The pre-conference day on Thursday will have once again the very well received Workshops, running four hands-on sessions on Ultrasound, Wound Care, Airways Management and External Fixation and Fracture Splinting. The Disaster Preparedness Course will also be on offer and we encourage you to register early due to the high demand for this unique course. Our Scientific Research Forum will again give our Colleagues the opportunity to present new, innovative, interesting and current research in trauma, critical care and emergency surgery.
For the second time due to an overwhelming response we are also running ahead of the main program on Thursday the Nursing Forum, dedicated to all nurses involved in caring for the multiply injured and critically ill patient. The Forum will cover a range of presentations from leaders in the field of Nursing, Allied Health and Medicine and for the first time we will have a free paper session for nurses involved in leading research and study to present their work.
Austrauma 2011 promises once again to be an outstanding success. We ask that you check the website regularly for the program, updates and details. We look forward to having you join us for this exciting conference in one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Keep checking the website regularly for updates.
Kind Regards
Dr Valerie Malka
